Mia Brookes und Cameron Spalding sind die LAAX OPEN 2025 Slopestyle Champions beim FIS Snowboard Weltcup in Laax und stecken den grössten Teil der 70.000 CHF Preisgeld ein.
Was für ein Geburtstagsgeschenk: Mia Brookes gewinnt die traditionsreichen LAAX OPEN im Slopestyle! Begleitet vom Applaus der tausenden Zuschauern entlang des Kurses und vor einem einmaligen 360° Bergpanorama holt sie zum ersten Mal und als Jüngste überhaupt ihren ersten LAAX OPEN Titel.
Auf dem zweiten Rang springt Olympiasiegerin Zoi Sadowsky-Synnott. Die Japanerin Kokomo Murase sichert sich mit knapp einem Punkt Vorsprung den 3. Platz vor Anna Gasser, die zum ersten Mal seit Jahren in LAAX knapp neben dem Podium landet.
Auch bei den Herren gibt es einen Premierensieg durch Cameron Spalding. Nach Platz 3 im letzten Jahr steht er 2025 ganz oben. Das Siegerbild komplettieren der Olympiasieger von 2018, Red Gerard (USA) als Zweiter, und Noah Vicktor von Team Germany, der erstmals in die Top 3 bei einem Weltcup fährt. „Der Kurs ist der Hammer. Ich liebe LAAX, jedes Jahr wieder. Es ist einfach ein Kurs, der nicht basic ist. Die Snowpark LAAX Crew bringt immer ihren eigenen Touch mit rein. Das ist spitze.“ Ein Topergebnis gelingt Jonas Hasler (SUI, 5.).
Mia Brookes lebt zeitweise in Laax, ist LAAX Rider und mit Leib und Seele Snowboarderin. Der Sieg in Laax ist für die junge Britin ebenso wie für die Veranstalter ein Traumresultat. Komplimente kommen von Olympionikin Zoi Sydowski-Synnott an Mia Brookes, die am Sonntag 18 Jahre wird: “Mia ist momentan ‚on fire‘. Sie fährt so smooth und stylish.“

LAAX OPEN 2025 Halfpipe
Die unglaubliche Freestyle-Action gipfelte am Samstag im Halfpipe-Nachtfinale. Die größte Halfpipe der Welt diente als perfekte Kulisse für einen sensationellen world-first trick. Bei den Damen zeigte die 24-jährige Chloe Kim (USA) einen Switch Frontside Double Cork 1080, der noch nie von einer Frau gestanden wurde, und erzielte damit 96,50 Punkte für ihren Sieg. Die zweifache Olympiasiegerin und Weltmeisterin sicherte sich damit ihren fünften LAAX OPEN-Titel. Das Finale der Herren wurde in einem engen Duell mit dem besseren Ende für den 30-jährigen Scotty James (AUS) entschieden. Der dreifache Weltmeister holte sich mit einem fehlerfreien Lauf seinen vierten Sieg bei den LAAX OPEN mit 95,75 Punkten.

Style, style, style — rules at the jaw-dropping night final, flabbergasting a 12,000-strong crowd of spectators and raising the roof! All on the Crap Sogn Gion above LAAX. Spotlights on the world’s 20 best halfpipe riders and the showdown of the 10th LAAX OPEN, the FIS Snowboard World Cup doted with 70.000 CHF prizemoney.
2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2025 — Chloe Kim, the American 24-year-old grande dame of the halfpipe who has won everything there is to win, awes without exception and takes her fifth LAAX OPEN title with her first run, scoring 96.50 points. “I’ve been coming here since I was 9 years old, to be back in 2025 and take home the win feels really special. The progression of the sport and to be part of it means everything to me.”
Behind her, US team-mate 24-year-old Maddie Mastro finishes in second place, making snowboarding history as the first woman to land two double corks in one run. Booyah! The Korean 16-year-old Gaon Choi secures third place and stands on the LAAX podium for the first time. Defending champion Mitsuki Ono misses out on the podium in fourth place.
2019, 2020, 2024, 2025 — Australian Scotty James shows nerves of steel in the men’s event. “The atmosphere here in LAAX is always unmatched, the crowd is incredible and the pipe is always phenomenal.” The 30-year-old halfpipe veteran dazzles on an incredible second run with a cab triple cork 1440 frontside grab, for which he scores 95.75 points and righteously beams from the podium as the winner for the fourth time. As so often before, his main rivals are the forces-to-be-reckoned-with Japanese Ruka Hirano just behind him in second place, and compatriot Ayumu Hirano, 2022 Olympic champion and two-time LAAX OPEN winner (2016, 2022) completing the top three.
MOBB DEEP froth a frenzy once again and this birthday goes va-VOOOM for the 10th LAAX OPEN. Freestyle culture at its best!
